Breaking News!!! 5 dead Following School shooting in Canada, Suspect in Custody

Five people have been confirmed dead in a school shooting in the Northern Saskatchewan community of La Loche, says Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Two people have also been confirmed to be in critical condition after the shooting in La Loche Community School, which is about 600 km (375 miles) north of the city of Saskatoon in Canada.

“Obviously this is every parent’s worst nightmare,” Trudeau said.

Mass shootings are relatively rare in Canada, which has stricter gun laws than the United States. In the country’s worst school shooting, 14 college students were killed at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique in 1989.

A Grade 10 student Noel Desjarlais told the CBC News that he heard multiple shots fired at the school. “I ran outside the school,” Desjarlais said. “There was lots of screaming, there was about six, seven shots before I got outside. I believe there was more shots by the time I did get out.”

La Loche Community School is a pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 school, which houses about 900 students in two buildings.

In 2014, a teacher expressed concern about violence at the La Loche school, citing an incident where a student who had tried to stab her was put back in her classroom after serving his sentence of 10 months, and another attacked her at her home.

Femi Solar denies rift with Yinka Ayefele

Gospel singer, Femi Solar, is preparing for his new album launch which comes up in April. Solar, who is seen by many gospel music lovers as a protege of Yinka Ayefele owing to his style of music which he patterns after Ayefele, is planning big for the launch with what he called an All-White party affair.

It will be recalled that Ayefele was absent at his last album launch in 2014 after it emerged that the duo had fallen out over irreconcilable differences. Since then, there were reports that Solar and Ayefele don’t see eye to eye. In fact, it was gathered that they avoided each other at public events.

Reacting to the alleged rift, Solar said there was no iota of truth in the news, blaming the seeming fallout on rumour mongers who wanted to destroy his relationship with Ayefele.

“I really would not like to dwell much on this issue. I think some people fed him with unfounded stories about me and he was not really happy about it, but we are together now and nothing can separate us again. He’s more than a boss to me, he’s my big uncle and I respect him a lot. He was absent at my last album launch because he was busy, but I can assure you that he would be at the launch on April 10”, he said.

Speaking about the 13-track album which may feature Fuji star, Pasuma and rapper, Olamide, Solar said preparations had begun and he was putting things in shape so as to have a hitch free event. According to him, a new video from his last album will also be launched on the same day.

Solar said he has been speaking with Pasuma and Olamide on the possibility of working together on the new album.

“Yes, Olamide and I have been talking. I have already met with Pasuma and we have been talking. I will disclose more about that at the appropriate time.

“I am very excited about how far we have gone with the preparations. At first, it appeared as if it would not be possible, but the level we have reached now by the grace of God points to the fact that we have moved ahead. It is going to be a step away from the norm. It is not going to have a semblance of the usual album launch, and I am sure that those who will come will attest to this fact.”
